The Golden Hour Bourbon Cocktail

This post contains a Bourbon Cocktail Recipe for the Golden Hour Cocktail using Bourbon. This cocktail recipe is courtesy of Basil Hayden which is the Kentucky Bourbon featured in this post.

I am always on the look out for unique cocktail recipes. While Bourbon isn’t usually my typical go-to, Basil Hayden has completely opened up my palette to Bourbon with it’s approachable taste. Blended beautifully with the ingredients in this recipe, this drink is smooth and bright.

Glassware

This cocktail can really be made in any glass but it’s ideal to use a classic rocks glass. Here are my favorite beautiful rocks glasses for this classy bourbon cocktail.

A rocks glass is a short heavy bottomed glass that can contain etching or other details. I like a minimal glass so the cocktail can really shine.

Garnishes

The Golden Hour Cocktail is made with a grapefruit peel or zest. Wondering how to get the perfect peel?

I used a peeler to get the slice as thick as I can and then I trimmed the edges. Grapefruit peel is quite pliable and you can work it towards staying in a circle as you place it on the ice for a refreshing flavor mixed with Bourbon and Aperol.

Love tequila instead? Try the Red Sonja cocktail.

What do you serve Bourbon in?

Bourbon is typically served in a rocks glass.

What is the difference between Whiskey and Bourbon?

Bourbon is different from other whiskeys due to the way it is manufactured and aged.

What cocktails are popular right now?

The Bourbon Old Fashioned and the Golden Hour are two popular and elevated cocktails.
