This white pizza recipe is for Fig and Prosciutto White Pizza.

This is a delightful recipe for a white pizza with Fig and Prosciutto.

When creating a pizza, you want to choose ingredients that complement each other and this Fig and Prosciutto Recipe is nothing short of flavorful! What is White Pizza?

White pizzas are pizzas without a classic tomato sauce. Sometimes you want to mix it up and think out of the box with your pizza! This white pizza recipe is the perfect way to mix things up and even have yourself a fancy pizza.

Some delicious versions in place of tomato sauce can include olive oil, garlic salt, BBQ sauce and fresh herbs.

Method for Making Fig and Prosciutto Pizza

Like any other pizza, you roll the dough and layer on the toppings. For this pizza, you’ll want to carefully place the toppings in clusters so you can a little bit of each topping in each bite.

First start with rolling out the dough. I like a thinner crust for this fig and prosciutto pizza.

Once you dough is rolled, spread on extra virgin olive oil until the crust is fully covered. Next season with salt and chopped fresh herbs. Spread with shredded mozzarella cheese. You can hand shred if using fresh cheese.

Next, hand dip your figs in honey. After you’ve built your toppings base, carefully place the figs, prosciutto and caramelized onions (optional). Place evenly in clusters so you will have a bit of each topping on each slice.

Best Cheese for the Pizza

This pizza can use a variety of cheeses. Shown here I have used mozzarella as a base with fresh goat cheese topped after the pizza has been removed from the oven.

Parmesan and Gruyere also make great choices.

Fresh mozzarella will give you more liquid on the pizza than regular shredded mozzarella so keep that in mind when placing your toppings.

Caramelizing Onions

You can certainly omit onions on this pizza but if you’re looking to kick the flavor up a notch, adding caramelized onions is the way to go.

To caramelize your onions, heat a saute pan over medium heat with a tablespoon of olive oil. Thinly slice your onions. Place them in the pan and reduce the heat to low. When the onions are translucent, add in one to two tablespoons balsamic vinegar.

What is good on white pizza?

Chicken, bacon, spinach, broccoli and mushrooms are my favorite white pizza toppings besides this fig pizza recipe.

How do you cut a fig to put on pizza?

First trim the stem and then slice into fours. Dip the fig in honey and sprinkle with salt. Place on your pizza.
